FOLLOW YOUR BLISS

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.  The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."  - Thomas Edison

Do you ever feel like giving up sometimes?  I do.  I just don't.  I some how find and muster up the courage to keep putting one foot in front of the other.  What am I referring to?  My dreams of course!  I have this huge dream to travel the world in search of dogs and help people along the way.  Some might think I am really bonkers for living such an unconventional life but what does it matter what others think?

I love this quote from Thomas Edison it's been tucked away in my belongings for years and I only recently came across it as I was unpacking a few bits.

What is bliss?  Bliss can be whatever makes your heart sing.  Family, work, sense of community, nice shoes, taking photos, making music or art ... mine is dogs (yeah, big surprise here)

I just keep trying to find ways to monetize my dreams so I can make a living by what I'm trying to achieve.  Is this possible?  I believe it is and I certainly am not giving up.

Have a good week following your bliss.

Mr. Winks URGENTLY NEEDS A NEW HOME NOW!

Update on Mr. Winks, the cute golden retriever/corgi mix.

The lady that rescued Mr. Winks from being hit by a car on a busy California highway can no longer foster Mr. Winks.  She has tried to find him a home but to no avail he is still without a forever home.  He has been fed, walked and most importantly loved unconditionally by  his rescuers.  Sadly they can not keep him as they lease a home and their landlord is not budging on a new addition to the house (they already have one rescue dog).  The dog must go and needs to find foster care or a new home ASAP.  If you can help please contact the lady who rescued him.

Update on Mr. Winks:

"Winks has gotten much better about talking walks and is extremely affectionate with us.  I just want to be sure that he gets all the love that he needs and deserves.  He is a real cuddle-bug."

Thanks!

Mr. Winks the one-eyed dog urgently needs a home!

**Update on Mr. Winks** - he is still very much in need of a home!  Vet check confirmed he is not fixed (aka in tact male dog)  He also has two eyes!  The vet confirmed that his winking eye has vision.  Apparently his one eyelid covers his other eye so it looks like he has no eye.  We are not sure if this is correctable or not.

This poor one-eyed dog was abandoned on Saturday, March 19th in the Diamond Bar area. He was nearly hit by several cars as he navigated his way across a busy street next to the 57 and 60 freeways. He was literally saved from being hit by a car.

He is very friendly and in need a loving and good forever home. He is small, but can jump high. Yes, sadly he is missing his left eye (hence the nickname Mr. Winks!) but otherwise he appears to be healthy.

He is not chipped and he does not appear to be fixed but the person who rescued him will have him checked by a vet tomorrow.

Mr. Winks looks like a Golden Retriever  / Terrier mix.  He has a lovely temperament!

The kind person that saved this dog didn’t have the heart to leave him on the street or take him to the pound and unfortunately Mr. Wink's rescuer is unable to keep him as they already have a house full of rescue animals.

If you are interested in adopting him, please contact: Darlene.Alvarez8@gmail.com

Thank you lovely dog peeps!

Post Crufts 2011 - what are your dogs doing now?

You've just won a placing at the largest and greatest dog show in the world - what do you do next?  Paws up?  Play a bit of ball and chase with the neighborhood kids?  Grow your hair out?
Crufts is the equivalent to the Olympics in the dog show world.  Yes, it comes once a year every March (unlike the Olympics that take place every four years) but qualifying, entering and exhibiting (showing to you non-dog peeps) in the actual show itself is the honor of all dog show honors.  It takes a lot of energy, commitment to take a dog all the way to Crufts dog show in Birmingham, England.   When the green carpet rolls away and the lights dim and the jewelled dog collar off  - what happens next?

I saw this cartoon from a recent New Yorker magazine (one of my favourite magazines to read leisurely while pretending to work).  It gave me a big smile as I know so many dogs and dog owners who really give their pooches an amazing life in and out of the ring.  It's not all about the rosette.   I have met along many a dog along my dog journey who take part in working dog activities, agility, search and rescue operations and even dancing (although I still haven't met a dog in person who can dance salsa and mergengue as well as that golden retriever from Mexico).  I wonder if there are any Crufts or Westminster show dogs assisting with search and rescue right now?  It's not all dancing and show rings.

God bless those dogs and handlers tirelessly working right now.

My prayers are with Japan.

Please support a dog rescue by checking out this music video

It's been a long time dog peeps!  I have been working on my other blogs, other non-profit projects and working to make a few bones (dog speak for some dollars in my pocket).

I picked this video link up from my favourite dog blog website of all time - the fabulous Life With Dogs and I viewed the video as Nigel suggested.  It is a sweet dog-related song and video and a very clever promotion in touting a new young artist in addition to lending some support to a local dog rescue in Columbia, SC called PETS,INC.  The artist committed to donate $1000 to this dog rescue if she receives 10,000 views.

So go on, have a quick view on YouTube by clicking on the link below and help this girl get her song out there as well as do a good deed for a dog rescue.
