Barking cold here

So I now need to get warmed up not just with extra socks and long underwear but definitely warmed up to writing on my new blog!  I saw some lovely dogs all bundled up today in Notting Hill but my most favourite dog that I saw today was this lovely staffie cross puppy on the 209 bus to Barnes.  He was very cute and sat on his owners lap very well behaved!

Speaking of well behaved dogs ... I am house sitting two gorgeous pedigree miniature Schnauzers named "Chip" and "Tommy" who are sometimes not the most well behaved dogs (shoes left on the floor are a no go here as well as any edible food items on the coffee table).  Tommy is actually a rescue from one of the Kennel Club breed rescue clubs.  I am hoping to interview his parents for a Kennel Club YouTube clip upon their return so you can hear first hand how well he has settled into his new home (and how many shoes he has also gone through!)

Well time to bundle up in bed and get ready for some arctic weather that is moving through to the UK tomorrow and Monday.

Yoo hoo! Party train from Philly. We were delayed a bit in leaving Philly as the Presidential train went before us earlier in the day. What a fun train ride. We had free entertainment with some great Obama songs.

Sent to me from one of the many lovely people I met on my journey to DC. Thank you Laurie!

We were on the party train from Philly to DC and I asked this guy to change his lyrics slighty to "Bark Obama" and it worked!

More teasers from the forthcoming "Bark Obama 2009" factual documentary soon!

Bark Obama 2009

And welcome to my new dog blog. I am so excited about 2009. It started in the most amazing way for me on 31st December 2008 when I had the opportunity to shake hands and ask President Elect Obama about "the dog." If you live under a rock or never read any paper or google alert than you may have not heard about the flagging economies, political struggles in Gaza and "the dog." Yes, the most famous family in the world have been mulling over the biggest decision a family can make - choosing the right dog. It's been water cooler talk not just for people in the dog world but for everyone who champions our four legged friends in every corner of the world. America has been gripped with anticipation as Obama mentioned soon after his Presidential win that he would really like to consider "a mutt like me." It may now be narrowed down to a Labradoodle (Lab and Poodle designer crossbreed) or Portuguese Water Dog (Pedigree) but whatever dog they do find it will create a huge statement to dog lovers everywhere.

I am embarking (no pun intended) on a journey this year to document the story of the dog. It is not just about the Obama dog (whatever breed or crossbreed it may be) but more about finding out what people think about the choice of a dog and what hope dogs bring to us in our day to day lives.

I live and work in the UK but I like to think of myself as a citizen of the world first. I love to travel and I love to meet dog people anywhere I go. I am always learning new things every day through my love of dogs. Dogs are amazing and I hope to share with you all the wonderful things they give to all of us - one dog at time.

Yours truly barking,
Heidi
